The Newcastle Knights have revealed the extent of Fletcher Sharpe's knee injury with medical staff confident the flying five-eighth can return within a month.
Scans on Tuesday afternoon confirmed Fletcher Sharpe sustained a PCL injury in the early stages of the Knights Las Vegas win over the Cowboys.
Speaking after the game Sharpe said he felt his knee buckle after making a tackle on Cowboys enforcer Ruben Cotter.
While Coach Justin Holbrook was quick to rule out the possibility of the injury being a season ending ACL, James Hooper said he initially thought it could be a more serious injury than what the club was letting on.
"There was a bit of mystery surrounding it... which worried me," Hooper said speaking on his new podcast, Rugby League Insider.
"Generally when it's like that, when the club won't tell you what's actually going on and you're at the game, that can often mean it might be a little bit worse."
Hooper was also glowing on the form of the Knights two most paid players, Kalyn Ponga and Dylan Brown - or as hoops said it, Kalyn Brown and Dylan Ponga.
"I like their laidback approach towards life," he said.
"But over there in Vergas... it looked like they flicked the switch. It looks like Ponga knows that he needs to deliver.
"He's the highest paid player in the game now, Dylan Brown is also the highest paid player in the game now after winning Power Ball last yea. The early signs are that they're going to complement each other."
