Tom Mikaele sings on with Cowboys until end of '28

The North Queensland Cowboys have secured the future of forward Tom Mikaele after agreeing to a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2028 season.
Mikaele has become an important part of coach Todd Payten’s middle rotation over the past year, establishing himself as a reliable presence in the Cowboys pack.
The 28-year-old has 90 NRL games under his belt, including 23 for North Queensland since joining the club ahead of the 2024 season.
A product of Keebra Park State High, Mikaele made his NRL debut with the Wests Tigers in 2019 and has also had stints with the Gold Coast Titans and English Super League side Warrington Wolves.
Mikaele is currently sidelined with a knee injury but could return as early as Round 4 when the Cowboys face the Melbourne Storm at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
Cowboys recruitment manager Clint Zammit said the club was pleased to retain the experienced prop.
“We are delighted Tom has agreed to extend his time in North Queensland,” Zammit said.
“Tom is a wonderful example of how hard work and dedication can change the trajectory of your career. He came to our club on a Development List contract after short stays at different clubs in the NRL and Super League and is now a vital member of our squad.
“He is a powerful runner of the ball and provides a point of difference to our attack with his offloading.
“We look forward to his contributions to our club on and off the field.”
